I Have A Dream

In honor of Martin Luther King day yesterday, a thought:

A very strong statement and one that we try, try, try to instill in our children (growing men) and remember ourselves.  I would also add "when no one else is watching".

Hopefully you enjoyed the day off, if you had it.  We froze on the ski slopes.  But, as I remarked on the drive home, it is so nice to have a family experience that is enjoyed and participated in by all, ages 7 - 47.  

Seven Springs

We spent the New Year's weekend skiing at Seven Springs.  Great food, great friends, pretty good skiing and lots of relaxing was had! 

I do have to admit that although skiing in the rain has it's advantages (empty mountain, no lift lines, slick slopes), the soaked-to-the-bone aspect was a little less than pleasant.  Thankfully, it was warm!

Skiing!!

I took the older three boys skiing today at Mad River Mountain.  Mountain is a misnomer in Ohio though, since it is in actuality just a very large hill.  But I guess it is all relative! 

Patrick and Conor will have you know that they do NOT ski.  They board.  What-ev-er!  Aidan and I are the skiers in the group.  We had a great time with good weather and suprisingly smallish crowds for it being winter break.  The funny thing was that there was a man totally old-school skiing.  He was in jeans and had no hat (despite a bald head).  I remember rocking that look back in middle school.  A blast from the past!  Now the boarders all have matching snow pants, coats, boards, hats, etc.  Funny how things have changed!

Where were the other boys, you ask?  Liam and Rowan spent the day at a Tae Kwon Do camp as an introduction into the sport.  Maybe some day when things calm down.  Ha!

Thankfully everyone was very worn out as the tension level rises here at home the closer we get to Santa's journey!
